5Not just for cats!  Aug 22, 2009
By C. Ludwig
Forget about cats...this is the ideal "man bag" for a guy with a small dog!! My husband and I have his and her Chihuahuas, and he calls this his "man bag" for carrying Rio. It looks like a briefcase or computer laptop case and he has taken his dog everywhere in this bag. We travel all over the country with our dogs, and they go into restaurants, stores, etc., in these bags. (I use the pink/brown bag with my dog, when I want to match, or the dogs will be in the bag for awhile...they are really comfortable for them for long periods of time to be in, as they are roomy.

The mesh is finer, so a cat can't get his claws into it to rip, plus there is a lot of storage in the side pockets. It's big enough so our dogs can sit if they want, but they usually just curl up and go to sleep or chew on a rawhide while inside.

A truly great bag, for cats OR dogs. Has a shoulder strap as well as a handle (like a briefcase). Sits nicely on the floor without falling over. We just love ours and use them constantly.

5Cozy on plane  Oct 01, 2010
By Lin
Just flew my 13 lb. cat three-quarters across country. He was amazingly quiet and well-behaved in this carrier. First time on plane too. Fits easily under United seat. Has good pocket space and fits comfortably on shoulder with strap while walking through airport. Although cozy space, he could turn around. He had to be in the carrier a total of 6 plus hours, and there were no accidents, although carrier is leakproof. Took my other 14 lb. cat in the standard medium Sherpa carrier. It is a bit sturdier, but this black one is cozier and easiest to carry. Like them both actually.

5Ideal for flying with a cat  Sep 08, 2010
By AJGlass
I needed to fly with an 8 pound cat and was not sure which carrier would work best. First I bought a small Sherpa Sport but worried might not be quite high enough for the cat to stand up in so bought the same in medium. Then thought maybe the cat tote would be better. The other ones had a lot of "windows" with mesh - good for ventilation but worried a cat might scratch through them or might prefer more privacy in a scary setting like an airport and airplane. This cat tote has flaps that work like curtains to give more visibility/ventilation when want it and more privacy for the cat when wants that. I was worried the cat might meow the whole trip but she was calm and quiet and did not meow until we were walking through the parking garage after landing. She had enough room to turn around and face the other direction, but not too much room to slide around. We were in first class and only had to smush the top down a little to fit under the seat. Can also turn it on its side to slide under the seat. Sherpa has a system that guarantees the airline will accept the carrier for in cabin, after provide some info about the size of your cat. Unless the cat is really big or heavy, I think this carrier should work - my 12 pound cat fits. I might try using it for vet visits but thus far used it only for a one-way flight of about 1,000 miles. Most people (except TSA) did not seem to notice that I had a cat on the flight.

5Awesome!  Jul 20, 2010
By Finn1013
This carrier is awesome! My cat loved it. I used it to fly him from the West Coast to the Midwest. The first time he made this trip in a different carrier and he cried and howled the whole way. With this carrier, he was quiet and slept the whole time. No drugs needed either.

4Classiest case out there - if you pet fits  Jan 16, 2011
By J. Sandberg
I shopped around looking at a number of cat carriers and this one was the nicest looking one out there. It has a fabric feel, instead of the usual non-rip nylon, and it is not as boxy as other carriers, which makes it balanced when using the shoulder strap. (I have another carrier that is too awkward to sling on the shoulder because it is wider than tall.) The front pouch can expand a bit, giving room for necessities like a sack of dry pet food and collapable dish. The micro-mesh holds up well with our cat, but we keep her nails clipped so she can't get a nail in the holes. The top hatch is a neat idea and makes fitting a cooperative animal into the case without "shoving" them into the front; it's a little narrow to fit a large or angry cat through the hatch. It has a "peek hole" on one side of the carrier which is likely for dogs, as cats would just jump out it.

I posted a couple pictures to help people get a feeling for the size and shape. It it taller than it is wide, which makes it suseptible to tipping over if your cat goes wild. It is still short and squishy enough to fit under an airline seat. One our our cats is a lanky 12 pounder and is basically the same size as the carrier; she fits with no room to spare. I think it would be a great carrier for small dogs as well as small to mid-sized cats (under 10 lbs or very compact).
