Good barrier from cold floor, folds compactly Nov 11, 2010

10/02/2011 UPDATE: I have been using this pad for a year now. I take it many places. It is my dog's base layer bed when we go camping. It folds compactly and has stayed dry on wet ground. I am consistently impressed with how well it washes. Every time I think that it has gotten too dirty to recover it washes well. The pad has been used for more than three weeks of camping this summer and even being placed directly on the ground has very few stains on the light color exterior.
110/2011 ORIGINAL REVIEW I travel with my dog and am always on the hunt for the more compact pad. This one is the most compact I have found that actually puts a barrier between a cold and/or damp surface and my dog. The ballistic nylon on the one side is really excellent. The fleece makes it a nice sleeping surface. I rated the item 4 rather than 5 stars because (a) the fleece is sewn to the nylon unevenly and (b) the black color of the fleece. I cannot understand why the fleece is black when black shows every bit of dog hair, lint, or other things that inevitably stick to the surface. I ordered a second one of these in pink and black. I was very distressed to discover that the fleece was black and the nylon pink so it is not just that this model is black and black. All in all I am very happy with this pad.

The pad is exactly what I expected it would be. It's thin and relatively light and will be used for a future stay in a kennel while I'm away. The backing should keep the cold and dampness from the cement floor away and the light fleece should help keep my dog comfy. Assuming that she doesn't chew it to shreds in anger at being left at the kennel, I also plan to keep it in the car as a seat cover and to have handy for trips away from home.
