Great product!!! Feb 27, 2009
By C. Willhite I didn't buy this vest, from Amazon.com :-( because my dog is an odd size and I had a gift certificate for a local store. This vest fits him very good. We even tried it out and he acted as if he wasn't wearing it. We went to the beach and he is was the talk of the group. A Pug wearing a lifevest while running in and out of the water with the big boys. I would highly recommend this for a small dog, any dog. It has clips so he could easily be picked up without it unhooking. Like someone said "like picking up a six-pack". I like the extra floatation at the front so my Pugs' nose is kept above the water. Now, I have to remember to put it in the car whenever I take him out, just in case we come across some water for him to jump into. Thank you

Perfect Dachshund Puppy PFD Aug 02, 2008

I looked at a couple different styles of PFD for my mini dachshund and this one provides the most support under her belly and back when I pick her up from the handle. I didn't get the fit right on her once and it rubbed her shoulders raw, so make sure to take the time to get it nice and snug. I only put it on her when we're whitewater rafting, and remove it when we are on shore b/c it doesn't allow her back to bend very much so she can't climb rocks or stairs with it on. I think that's more of a personalized issue for her thought. Otherwise, works great! She is about 9 pounds and wears the extra-small, I think that even the x-small would be too big for a dog any smaller of the 'toy' variety.

Couldn't be more satisfied Jul 14, 2007
By Theresa B. The doggie vest was everything advertised and more! Too bad it couldn't make my pup less afraid of the water!! (HA-HA)It kept him afloat and was very easy to put on and make adjustments to. Great item!

it keeps the dog afloat Sep 21, 2010

I had a difficult time deciding what size to buy for my lhasa ahpso and decided her 15 pounds would be okay in a size small. She hates the water and I thought she might learn to like it a little better if she had help keeping her nose above water. I also liked the idea of me not worrying about her getting tired and going under before I could get to her. The jacket JUST fits. It's a tiny bit big for her but I think the x-small would have been too small. The velcro straps hold securely and you have to struggle to open them when the dog is done swimming. This is a good thing - you know the dog is not going to get out of the jacket. The front wraps around with more velcro and does an excellent job lifting the chest and head out of the water. Finally, the body of the vest is held together with straps to reinforce the velcro. All in all, a very secure vest that will keep your dog afloat, head up, the entire time they're swimming.
