Nice idea but..................... Mar 31, 2010
By Barz I purchased this item for my 100 pound German shepherd and......he doesn't like it at all (not the product's fault, however). I like the concept and it is lightweight. It is basically made from a hard plastic with non-slip footing for the animal. It telescopes fairly easily. But.....I expected a lot more for that kind of money (I paid $107). When I opened the box, three end caps fell immediately to the ground. They will not stay in place so I had to epoxy them to cover sharp edges. I think this item is worth about half the price that I paid for it.....not a cent more. I would recommend that you spend another 40 or fifty dollars and buy an aluminum one instead. Some of the ones available are multipurpose....meaning that you can use it as a hand truck ramp, etc. Not a whole lot of engineering or otherwise went into developing this product which was......you-guessed-it, made in China!

Great Ramp!!! Dec 06, 2009
By S. Otteman I really like this ramp! I have a St. Bernard who has trouble getting into the back of my 4Runner at times. This ramp is great for her. If I could change anything, I'd make it a bit wider. My dog is 150 lbs and while I can see this being great for smaller dogs, extra large breeds are wider dogs so... Overall though, the width isn't that big a deal. I think, at this point, my dog just isn't all that used to using a ramp and the fact that she can see over the edges makes it a bit scary for her.
I originally purchased the smaller ramp at my local pet store, but I like the larger one MUCH better - especially since I think my next car will be a Tahoe or something similar. Big dogs need big cars! The thing that I thought was so interesting in comparing the 2 ramps, the longer one is exactly as wide as the smaller one. So, if you're thinking of getting the Deluxe XL ramp for a bigger dog, there really isn't a point. The XL ramp is just longer. The regular ramp is fine for smaller trucks.
One other point, ordering off of Amazon was MUCH cheaper than the ramp I purchased at my local pet super-store. That one was much more expensive and returned as soon as I had a chance to see the two ramps next to one another.

Dog Ramp Apr 24, 2009
By R. Kramer Good product, we use it for our Ford F-150 and our 9 year old Golden walks right up it. Took a few tries to get her used to it. Didn't come with the snap for the safety strap, but I called customer service and they sent one right out.

Worked great for me! Mar 02, 2011
By Devon I needed a ramp ASAP because my dog was having surgery for a torn ACL and wouldn't be able to jump into the SUV for 8 weeks. So I started searching and reading all of the reviews. I needed a wide ramp for my Bernese Mt.Dog who is 110 lbs because I didn't want him to be afraid to use it. I also wanted a long ramp so the incline wasn't too steep. This ramp was xtra long & wide and seemed like it would be perfect but after reading some of the reviews I was afraid to purchase it. Well it was the smartest purchase I made and it works sooo well. People complained about how it was packaged for shipping, and about the sharp edges, and everything else you could think of. Well let me just say that some of those reviews are outdated and it was shipped a box in a box - nothing fell out during shipping. There were plastic pieces covering the sharp edges and most were rivited in place. Unfortunately 2 plastic pieces did fall off after a few uses but they are the pieces that lay flat against the ground. The buckle to hold it together so it doesn't slide apart while carrying it and the handle work fine. You just need to use it properly and you won't get your fingers pinched as some other reviewers stated. It is probably heaver than other ramps but it does not bow as my dog walks on it - it is very sturdy. After one weekend he learned to walk on it. At first I thought the surface would be a problem but after he got used to walking on it, he now goes up & down like a champ. Start by laying it flat on the floor and gradually build up to the car height by using it on the couch or on a hill or single step. You also need to have room to transport it and the dog so be sure to check the dimensions of it when it is collapsed. I put the dog in the back of the SUV and the ramp across the back seat. It really is a great investment.
