Not all that durable Feb 20, 2009
By rare bird
We bought 4 of the Hyper Gnaws toys for our four pups - two bones and two balls. The balls may be a better choice for strong chewers. Our Yorkie-Bichon pup, who has a hard mouth, had the seams split on the small bone-shaped model in two places within an hour. Primary complaints:
Suede is a misnomer. The black part of the bone-shaped toy is a cottony-feeling fabric. The seam on the outer edge on the black part split open making the edge of the fabric available for chewing and tearing.
On the green nylon part (the right side in the picture) a 3-inch section of the side seam was not machine stitched so that the toy could be stuffed and then closed by hand-stitching. The hand-stitching came apart during the first hour of use.
I was able to pull the seams back together with a darning needle and nylon upholstery thread - time will tell if my sewing will pass the chew test!
The ball-shaped Hyper Gnaws may be more durable.

This toy was a great price, and my dogs seem to like it. Not a bad buy for less than 4 dollars. My strong chewers have not yet destroyed it.

Our Cavelier King Charles Spaniel, (14 months old) has several play toys that he has had for over 6 months. He has never chewed through a play toy before. Our dog chewed the corner off this play toy in one afternoon and proceeded to pull out the stuffing. Major disappointment over how tough this item was advertized.
The company that sold this item, sent several new toys (which have stood up very well) as a good will gesture. I definately would buy from them again. Very pleasant to do business with. Highly recommened.
It lasted five minutes. Feb 17, 2010
By Kiki As I am writing this, my dog is tearing apart the toy I handed him a little over five minutes ago. I don't know how he did it, but there's already stuffing all over the floor, and he's working on disembowelling the rest of it. To be fair, the toy *looked* durable, but then again, I speak as a human who doesn't have razor dog teeth. :(
Not "indestructable"... Dec 26, 2009

My pitbull is a moderately strong chewer (he has not torn apart his kong, but can kill a tennis ball in less than 5 minutes). I bought him one of these because he has a thing for soft toys. The good news is, he loves it, and still carries around the limp carcass. The bad news is, he tore the end off and made "snow" all over the house in maybe a half an hour at most. The material that is in the center is good and strong. The ends are not that strong once they are soggy.
For a moderate chewer, this is probably a good alternative to a stuffed toy.
